Program Overview

The CAGC SC Trade Certification card, formerly the Municipal Association Trade Certification card, is confirmation that a cardholder has satisfied the experience and written examination qualifications required by the Foundation to hold the level of certification indicated. This certification should not be confused with the South Carolina Mechanical Contractors License or the South Carolina Residential Builders Commission's Specialty Contractors License.

A tradesman interested in either of the above licenses should contact the appropriate agency as follows:

  • Contractors Licensing Board (for commercial work over $10,000)
  • Residential Builders Commission (for residential work over $500)

Application Process

  • Complete the application in full.
  • Submit the $35 application fee.
  • Application review begins once the application fee has been received.
  • Please allow up to two (2) weeks for applications to be processed.
  • Upon approval, the applicant will receive a notification from PROV, CAGC Foundation’s contracted examination provider.
  • Applicants are responsible for scheduling their own exam date with PROV.
  • Exams may be taken online or in person at an approved testing facility.

Retesting Information

  • Candidates who are approved to test but do not pass the exam or allow their exam voucher to expire are not required to submit a new application.
